Busy Bank Holiday for Athletics NI Office-26th place in relay

Athletics Northern Ireland Congratulations to the Athletics NI team who competed in the Belfast City Marathon Relay on Monday. Their team- 'Body Of A Genius, Mind Of An Athlete' improved on last years placing and finished in 26th place in a time of 3.06.35. The team was made of athletes and non-athletes and so a lot of hard work and effort was put in the last few months in training. Team Athletics NI: 1st leg: Aileen Morisson (Former Development Officer) 2nd leg: Clare Houston (Admin Manager) 3rd leg: David Reid (Coach) 4th leg: Kerry Harty (Development Officer) 5th leg: Clare McCoy (Marketing/PR) Congratulations must also go to all the clubs who featured heavily in the top 20 results with North Belfast A winning overall in a time of 2.21.29 followed by Abbey AC and Ballymena & Antrim. Regional Development Officer Heather Martin ran the entire marathon finishing in an impressive time of 3.23.21- 153rd place. The entire event was a huge success and Athletics NI are delighted to have played such a huge role in the lead up and indeed on the day. Thanks to officials and volunteers! Elsewhere, another development officer was in action- Jeremy Harper who represented University of Ulster in the discus at the BUSA Championships over the May Day weekend at Bedford. After a 47.01m throw in the qualifying round, Jeremy finished 4th in the final on Monday with 47.01m. [Pictured: Athletics NI Team]
